I just stumbled across CrowdSound, a slick widget that enables anyone to gather ’social feedback’ from users and customers. There’s inherent value to creating and maintaining a direct dialogue between you and your customers, so I decided to take a look and see if it’s really a good tool to implement in order to improve customer relationships and product development. CrowdSound is a social widget that allows anyone to become part of a discussion on ...

The folks over at the Search Engine Roundtable have noticed a post by Google employee Matt on the Feedburner Help Group confirming that the FeedBurner Ad Network (FAN) has effectively been shut down. UPDATE (15 August): Google seems to have opened up AdSense for Feeds for all, according to Google Operating System. This is a quick note to confirm that FeedBurner’s former, independent ad network, FeedBurner Ad Network (aka “FAN”), is officially closed. No new ...

I’m a bit of a domain name buff, ever have been since my first job as an account manager of Belgium’s largest domain name registrar and hosting provider. So I’m currently trying to fight the urge to buy this supercool poster from Bytelevel. From the website: There are more than 260 TLDs in use around the world, most of which are country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). The Country Codes of the World map includes 245 ...

We’ve blogged about Seedcamp before, the program that aims to provide a catalyst for Europe’s next generation of entrepreneurs. Seedcamp’s CEO, the charismatic Reshma Sohoni, sent word that the deadline for the applications is rapidly approaching. If you’re a EMEA-based startup looking to engage with an impressive number of investors and mentors for an entire week, you have less than two weeks to submit your application (more specifically until August 10). And why should you ...

Cubics was the one of the first advertising networks designed specifically for social networks, and currently boasts support for most major social networks including Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, Bebo and others. The company prides itself on displaying highly targeted ads, based upon detailed demographic, interest, and behavioral data, a strategy that led to its acquisition by online targeted advertising house Adknowledge in December of last year. Cubics sent out a press release today about the fact ...

In case you haven’t read this elsewhere (I haven’t, but the press release is dated 11 July): BIC, the French company whose name will infinitely be linked to ballpoint pens - in fact, in Belgium, Greece and France, the name has even become downright generic - has set up a partnership with Orange and Alacatel to market a basic mobile phone aptly named the BIC Phone. Who needs further proof that cellphones are now nothing ...

Last Saturday, I had dinner with friends at their house, and I spent some time with their 14-year old kid, who had just gotten his first electrical guitar. He was teaching himself how to play it by checking out song scores and mimicing other people’s performances found on the web. I started challenging him to dig up some classics from artists like Jimi Hendrix and Dire Straits to learn how to play them (he didn’t ...
