Since both the iPhone and iPod touch offer photo features, it was only a matter of time before third-party developers released applications to expand the devices’ photo viewing and manipulation abilities. There are now four pages of apps in the App Store’s Photography category, and even more photo apps available on the store if you search around. These apps range from nearly useless to bizarre to truly useful, and with the iPhone still…

Vroom is an affordable rubber case designed to look like a car tire. Similar to Treadz, an earlier case from iFrogz, Vroom has treads on its bottom, leaving a hole for the iPhone 3G’s camera; it has a nicely proportioned bottom hole and small ones on the top and side, with protection for the volume and Sleep/Wake buttons. On the flip side, it picks up dust pretty easily—a problem with Treadz, as well—and exposes the ...

Apple and carrier partner AT&T have been sued on the ground that they have knowingly oversold the iPhone 3G, resulting in reduced network performance in places where many iPhone 3Gs are in use at once. The complaint, filed in a San Diego court by iPhone customer William Gillis, relies primarily on various Internet reports from the last two months, which state that initial (pre-software 2.0.2) iPhone 3G network power demands, combined with the…

Yet although traditional radio has indeed suffered over the past five years, it has also evolved: satellite radio, digital terrestrial radio, and Internet radio have all popped up to offer greater choice and higher quality. iTunes users…

Many long-time iPod users have become accustomed to the ability to use their iPods as portable hard disks to store and transfer files between different computers. This still is easily accomplished on both iPod Click Wheel and shuffle models, since these iPods can appear as USB hard drives on your computer. All you need to do is enable Disk Mode in iTunes, and the iPod suddenly becomes both a media player and a file storage ...

Capsule Rebel represents a fairly remarkable rebound from SwitchEasy’s prior Capsule cases for iPhone and iPod touch, fully hard plastic cases that put simplicity and color options somewhat ahead of usability and comfort. Both versions had been packed with a bunch of items, including different colored screen protectors, stickers, and other frills; it all seemed like too much, but at the same time, not enough. This time, SwitchEasy has come up…
