It's good to know that the Heavy appreciates a good sandwich as much as I do. Though in my case my need for hunger-filling sammiches pushes me to hire interns in the Denver area. In the case of the Heavy? He uses his Sandvich to satisfy overwhelming hunger pangs and heal 120 health. The tidy meal does take him a good four seconds to eat, and apparently the noise of his chomping is a dead ...

Well, PC gamers, it looks like piracy isn't the only reason developers are cutting back on the number of games they create for the platform. It's also your expensive, cutting-edge rigs! In trying to explain why Lucasart's upcoming Force Unleashed wouldn't be gracing the company's former home platform, producer Cameron Suey has said: [If we made the game for high-end PCs], someone with a low-end PC would have a watered down experience, they would have ...

Codemasters are to release a sequel to their 2007 minion-wrangling game Overlord that will pit the player-controlled title character and his chaotic army against an uptight, by-the-book Empire. The original game challenged you to be either evil or really evil. This, apparently, was just not flippin' evil enough to satisfy developers Triumph. Game director Lennart Sas told Eurogamer, "Now the choices are between lawful evil and chaotic evil, which usually translates to either enslaving the ...

With the launch of Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway creeping over the horizon for the end of September, Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford has come out to say a few words on what players can look forward to and what will separate Hell’s Highway from the rest of the pack when WWII shooters in general seem to be on their way out of fashion. What made Brothers in Arms the Pepsi to Call of Duty’s Coca-Cola was ...

Common Ground is about perceptions and misunderstandings: the player experiences a set of events from the perspective of three protagonists. Their respective ideas of what is going on (and why) dovetail together in sometimes-surprising ways, and the result is a story about communication and expectation in an ordinary family. Because of the way it plays with overlapping experiences, Common Ground also has to keep track of what you've already done (in one incarnation) in order ...

It wasn’t that long ago that Ribbit was acquired to become part of BT’s larger plans to make voice applications more prominent in main stream use cases, and not surprisingly Jajah has begun to respond with a new feature that makes your PC “act more like a phone.” Taking advantage of Jajah’s telephony, built on its own infrastructure and the Intel Remote Wake technology, PCs can accept phone calls from the sleep mode in order ...

Here’s a nice little weekend project. You can pick up a barebone MSI Wind system (not the netbook, the desktop version) from Newegg for $140. It’s one of the first desktop systems to use Intel’s power-sipping Atom processor (1.6GHz). You’ll need to add RAM (it uses laptop RAM) and a hard drive (or CF card) to this kit, and maybe even a little Wi-Fi card if you’re feeling adventurous. The board itself has an internal ...

Square Enix plans to open a new virtual world in Japan this month, but this project is disconnected from their key franchises. You won’t find einherjar, slimes or chocobos in chic NicottoTown. This virtual world is populated with hip looking characters and real world activities like shopping for clothes. The joint project between Square Enix and Nifty, an Internet service provider in Japan, is clearly aimed at a different demographic. NicottoTown is more like a ...

If you watch the video, you will see the top two Quake players at QuakeCON setting up their rigs to have a showdown in the finals. Only the showdown did not happen the way you thought it would. via ...

I’m not sure which is more humiliating, the fact that the opening ceremony for this year’s Olympics in China culminated with the unwitting projection of the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) onto the roof of the National Stadium, presumably in full view of Microsoft (MSFT) Chairman Bill Gates, who was in the audience. Or that the organizers of the event decided to run Windows XP, and not Vista, on their PCs and were happy to ...

I think this is basically half right. The iPhone is a Pocket Computer, and it's the first massively adopted pocket computer, that much is true. I do think, however, that the addition of geotility (location awareness) is a huge new dimension in personal computing, and the iPhone is important in this respect too.

The latest entry into the UMPC market first stirred-up by the Eee PC is this new ultra-light from Raon Digital. It's beefy inside despite its tiny size, packing a dual-core CPU—AMD Turion—which, according to the makers, is a first. It looks barely bigger across than its 7-inch screen (with 1024 x 600 pixels), but squeezes everything else in there too, including an electronic dictionary function, Windows XP OS, Bluetooth and drive options that go from ...
