“Hello, Apple? HSBC here. World’s largest company, maybe you’ve heard of us? Good, yeah, we’d like to place an order for the iPhone… How many? How about 200,000 for starters, b’okay?” Sure, maybe the call won’t go exactly like that, but ZDNet Australia (via MacRumors) is claiming the call may just be coming. Says HSBC’s Australia and New Zealand chief information officer, Brenton Hush: We are actually reviewing iPhones from a HSBC Group perspective … ...

Here’s a surprise benefit from the iPhone 2.0 Exchange ActiveSync ability: I was able to finally move my iPhone’s “home” sync from the PC to the Mac! I’m a long-time iPhone user and new Mac switcher, but since I use the phone for business (read Exchange) email, contacts, and calendars, I was stuck syncing it to the (work) PC instead of the (home) Mac. This really wasn’t optimal, as it meant I needed to load ...

We have read thousands of outrageously stupid reasons why one should move to Linux, reasons like - Linux has GIMP so shift to a completely new platform! Off course there are some authors who really know what they are talking about and make compelling arguments about the FOSS movement and why one might contemplate a switch. However, I personally don’t find weight in most arguments and still prefer Windows and I guess will do so ...

Well it’s the end of another gorgeous month here in the heartland of the States. Gasp, I am an American blogger. I live in the armpit of America where nothing unusually awesome ever happens. Which is probably why I have so much free time to listen to music and play like my opinions matter {which we all know they really do}. Once again, though, the time has come for me to post my favorite remixed ...

Everybody loves cool visual effects, like the new Aero effects in Windows Vista that let you switch windows with a live preview, or Linux effects that let you change between your desktops as if they were standing on a 3D cube. Wouldn’t it be good to add some effects in Firefox too? Photo Credit: Kai Hendry Ctrl-Tab is a Firefox extension that allows you to switch between tabs with the old ctrl-tab key combination with ...

The interest in Mac is an at all time high these days. The public follies of Windows Vista, coupled with the superb marketing and positioning of the Mac by Apple, has led to an increased presence of the Mac in the eye of the computer user today. A tech bloggers like myself really enjoy covering Apple because they really are on the cutting edge of things and cause a lot of hype. I pretty publicly ...

Filed under: Internet, .Mac, Apple History, MobileMe Tonight, we will all say "goodbye" to .Mac, a service that has been a small part of Apple for almost 8 years. iTools, .Mac's predecessor, was launched on January 5, 2000 at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco and was a free service that included a HomePage, iCards and the much coveted @mac.com e-mail address that is commonplace today (as well as the forgotten 'KidSafe,' which was a ...

I decided to buy my first Mac about two years ago. At the time, I knew nothing about the Macintosh, OS, or hardware. I was a PC guy. I guess I need to give a little background. I hold a Microsoft MCSA, and am a CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator). I am a System Analyst for a fairly large hospital. All I knew about was Microsoft, and Active Directory. My home PC died, I was ...
