Preliminary statistics from Net Application show that Internet Explorer is losing more ground in the internet browser battle. It’s not really surprising as Firefox, Safari and Chrome are all gaining popularity. Internet Explorer usage dropped from 71.27 percent in October to 68.15 percent in December. Firefox went up to 21.34 percent, up 1.37 percent from 19.97 percent in October. Safari market share moved from 6.57 to 7.93 percent and Google Chrome from 0.74 to 1.04 ...

The T-Mobile G1's lack of battery life has always been a concern, especially after we learned about its data roaming issues. Seido's new battery combats this problem without the need for a new cover. The 1400mAh battery adds an additional 400mAh over the OEM version, which should earn you an extra hour or so of talk time. And, as mentioned, it does not take up any additional space, so no replacement battery door is necessary. ...

Hear the scorn of a million parents cry out in righteous anger: despite recently increasing basic text messaging rates from ten cents to twenty across the board, NYT reveals that Carriers pay roughly nothing. The meat of the NYT article: Perhaps the costs for the wireless portion at either end are high — spectrum is finite, after all, and carriers pay dearly for the rights to use it. But text messages are not just tiny; ...

Bullshit but I'm not very surprised. I hope bringing this to the attention of people forces something to happen.

This is a pretty naive complaint. Companies don't charge based on a service/product's cost to them--they charge based on what the market will bear. That said, the real question is why the market will bear such expensive text messaging--you'd think one of the companies would undercut the competition by slashing text message prices. And the fact that it hasn't happened is pretty shady.

The much delayed and anticipated Nuvifone from Garmin is still on track for a 2009 release. Unfortunately, it won’t be running Android as the OS. It was rumored that the reason for all of the delays was that Garmin was taking second looks at the platform. It might be easier to take Android and meld it to your preference than say, creating your own blend from Linux. Officially, we heard today that Garmin plans to ...

Reports are coming in that T-Mobile has finally admitted that the T-Mobile G1 does indeed have a battery problem as we stated in our review of the Android-powered device. With the inability to end background processes which kill the battery in less than a single day, T-mobile is giving lucky G1 owners an extended life battery. While this is still just a rumor, T-Mobile may just be doing a little preventative maintenance under our nose ...
